Background: The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is a global non-profit organization, working in 70 countries and territories to improve the conditions and prospects for young people where they live, work and play. Established in 1990 to bring worldwide resources to young people in need, IYF works with hundreds of companies, foundations and civil society organizations to strengthen and “scale-up” existing programs that are making a positive and lasting difference in young lives. Over the past 20 years, IYF and its global network of in-country partners have helped millions of young people gain access to the life skills, education, health information, job training and opportunities critical to their success.

Summary Description

IYF seeks a consultant to support the design and development of a computer-based Entrepreneurship curriculum for Micro and Small Enterprise Development (MSE) which will be piloted in Africa and the Middle East. The curriculum will include user-friendly, interactive modules and exercises on core skills and components of entrepreneurship and business management. The curriculum will be delivered using a blended-learning approach in which computer-based modules—used as the primary instructional delivery mechanism—are reinforced and enriched with face-to-face instruction by onsite facilitators. Once the curriculum is designed, it will be digitized by an external vendor.
The content will be based largely on the adaptation of previously-identified entrepreneurship training curricula, and a facilitator’s guide will accompany the curriculum. IT training in various Microsoft programs such as MS Office Suite and relevant business-related applications will be integrated into the modules and serve as instructional resources and tools. Life skills that are particularly relevant to entrepreneurs will also be integrated into the Entrepreneurship curriculum.
The consultant will provide substantial technical support to the adaptation and development of the Entrepreneurship curriculum, and provide guidance on designing and piloting the curriculum post digitization. The consultant will work closely with IYF staff throughout the design, development and piloting process.
Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of a non-industry specific, youth-focused Entrepreneurship curriculum in collaboration with IYF staff
• Assess existing entrepreneurship curricula and determine appropriate adaptations
• Develop a facilitator’s guide for the curriculum that can be used to train and support facilitators
• Provide inputs into the digitization process to ensure learning objectives and overall educational quality is maintained
• Provide guidance on the formative evaluation of the curriculum and make necessary changes to the curriculum post evaluation
